Vratislav Hlavatý, a legendary figure in Czech animation, graphic design, and balloon flying. As an artist with a unique and distinctive style, he shaped the films of Jiří Brdečka, Gene Deitch, Václav Bedřich, and Michaela Pavlátová. He is primarily known to the public as a graphic designer, illustrator, and creator of original movie posters. He studied in the film graphics studio under Professor Adolf Hoffmeister at the Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design in Prague, graduating in 1959.
From his filmography, which the festival will highlight, notable works include Drahoušek Klementina(1959), Giants (1969), Carnival of Animals (2006), and the series From the Diary of a Student of Class III. B, or Edudant and Francimor (1993).
